Program:
First day:
Let’s start at Big Ben! A few steps from here is the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the British Parliament, from where we can take a short walk to 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister’s residence. Don’t be disappointed, we won’t get the chance to ring the doorbell.
Crossing Parliament Square, we go to Westminster Abbey. Founded in the 11th century, the walls of the abbey have witnessed 40 coronations and more than a dozen royal weddings. Several kings and queens are buried here, as well as famous personalities such as Newton and Darwin.
After a walk through St. James’s Park, we reach Buckingham Palace, the residence of the royal family, which we can admire from the outside. From there, through cozy little streets, we go to Trafalgar Square, where the statue of Admiral Nelson stands on the iconic column. Our walk ends here today, and if you want, you can see the collection of the National Gallery, or walk to the cozy Covent Garden, where many small shops sell typical souvenirs, and street performers entertain the audience.
Second day
We start today’s walk at the cozy shops of Ledenhall Market, then walk to the Tower. We cross the Tower Bridge to the south bank of the Thames, and here, walking along the riverbank, we reach the always bustling Borough market. We arrange a meeting point, because we are guaranteed to get lost in the crowd, looking at and tasting the many interesting culinary specialties.
From Borough Market, we go to the Tate Modern museum, passing by the Shakespeare Globe theatre. Here, if you want, you can see some of the Tate Modern’s exhibitions, or you can walk with us across the Millennium Bridge footbridge, which leads straight to St. Paul’s Cathedral, where our walk ends today.
Day 3 afternoon:
Today we start our walk at Portobello Market, in Notting Hill. From there we walk along typical London streets to Kensington Palace, stopping at a couple of cafes. Kensington Palace is on the edge of Hyde Park.
At Lancaster Gate underground station we take the classic London “tube” and after 3 stops we get off at Oxford Circus. Here we take a look at the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street and Regent Street, before choosing a cozy pub on the streets of Soho.
Fourth Day
Free time until departure. Last minute shopping, stroll in the park, spend the time as you please.
