Day 1-3 – Lisbon – 10, 11 and 12 May, 2026

We will stay in a comfortable and spacious apartment in the old town. We cook, eat, drink and chat while discovering the past of the Portuguese capital and experiencing its present in the heart of the Barrio Alto district.

We walk the steep cobblestone streets of the Barrio Alto, or Old Town, and admire the Portuguese-blue tiles, the azulejos, of the ancient facades. In the evening, we sip ginjinha, or cherry liqueur, from chocolate glasses sold in doorways. In the morning, we board the historic tram and in the Belém district, we admire the lace-work walls of the St. Jerome Cathedral, and at the Belém Tower.

Day 4 – from Lisbon to Óbidos – 13 May

On the fourth day we will leave Lisbon and set off on a trip with our minibus. We will take a look at the sights near Lisbon. Several days would not be enough to see all the sights of the nearby town of Sintra. We choose to admire the strikingly colourful walls painted in bold red and yellow of the Pena Palace, and visit the National Palace. Both sights are part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

From Sintra we drive to the westernmost point of the Old Continent and let the West wind mess up our hair at the foot of the Cabo da Roca lighthouse.

In the evening we arrive in the small but very beautiful medieval town of Óbidos. This little jewel box is almost is most enjoyable when the day-trippers have left in the evening.
Our accommodation will be in a nicely renovated old building:

Casa Das Senhoras Rainhas

Day 5 and 6 – Porto – 14 and 15 May

In the morning we continue our journey to Porto.

Porto is the second largest city in Portugal, after Lisbon. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe. The port wine and the old city centre are so impressive that UNESCO has declared it a World Heritage. There are many attractions waiting for us in Porto, and we will try to visit most of them during our stay.

In Porto we will have breakfast at the hotel and dinner at typical local vegan restaurants. We will definitely try the famous Portuguese vanilla custard “pastel de nata” – the vegan version, of course.

We will be staying in Porto for two nights in a wonderful hotel in the city centre:

Porto Torel Saboaria

Day 7 – departure day – 16 May

We say or goodbyes, or better “see-you-laters” and board on the transfer to the airport.
